Slow down to get ahead!

Slow down to get ahead!

If you are going to run a hundred miles then your focus, at the start, is “am I running slow enough” then go slower! Because any long distance runner will tell you that if you want to get to the end of 100 miles, you must really work on slowing down and not going faster, at the start!

This pattern of “holding back” is what is needed in accomplishing nearly anything you will tackle in life! About a month ago I thought I would add “bag kicking” to my daily training, especially since I don’t run as much in winter. I started at only 100/day then slowly added more. Right now I am doing 2500 kicks/day! Had I started with even half of that I would have quit long ago!

What I’m speaking of is prevalent in “New Years Resolutions”. Folks go at it as hard and fast as the can because they can’t deal with the thought of it lasting so long. So they fail year after year and never grasp the reality!
