In a small town, word of mouth is extremely important. Why? Because everyone talks to everyone! It’s much better than signs or ads because advertising is often thought of as somewhat negative only because when you see an advertisement you are pretty sure that their main goal is to get your money! But when a friend talks to another friend and tells them of a very positive experience they had with a business then that is pretty much accepted by their “friend” as “written in stone”!
What I do is to try to “GIVE” to my clients as much as possible. In my case, that “giving” is mostly added services! I use a part of every day to just imagine what I can do for my clients that my competitors maybe wouldn’t do! What is that specifically? My business is personal training, so I start with those two words “personal” and “training”. I try to give the best ‘training’ possible by researching the specific “needs” of my client, and trying to help them with their specific ‘need’ as much as possible. The “personal” part? I love helping people that need and want help! That could be many different things. An example: I had an elderly person come in that had once had “spinal stenosis” but this person didn’t get the medical attention needed at the time it happened and he could barely get around. Being an ex RN in CCU I felt comfortable accepting this person as a client. I already knew about “spinal stenosis” but I did extensive research and we slowly worked together and he can now get around much better and much less pain! Being able to move well enough so you don’t fall, for the elderly, is extremely important! If they fall and break their hip, studies show that they probably only have a 50/50 chance of living past a year(age 60 and above)! Well, this man has talked very positively about my services and I’ve heard about it from many folks! Keep in mind, I am not just doing this to get more business, I love every second of every minute of every day that I get to help folks like this! Thanks, The Trainer
